INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION - KN ORIGINS SD CARD

Our KN Origins SD Card will be updated from time to time.
This version is: VERSION 1.0

THE KN ORIGINS SD CARD

The Easiest Way to Start your SD Card Styles Collection!

These instructions will help you to make use of our KN Origins SD Card, contained in the ZIP file. All of this information is in the README.TXT file on the SD Card for your future reference.

The instructions and information contained here apply to KN7000 and KN2600 for users of Apple Mac or PC (or Linux etc). Some information regarding the use of specialised programs only applies to PC as stated but Apple users can make use of everything in the .ZIP file.

The purpose of the KN Origins SD Card is to enable you to very quickly make an SD Card for your keyboard, containing 727 Styles and ready for you to edit or add more Styles using your keyboard.

For Apple users, once you have created your KN Origins SD Card, when you want to add new Technics Songs (Styles, Sequences etc), you should do that by transfer from a floppy disk using your keyboard.

Don’t try to add more Styles using your Mac, it won’t work.

USB Floppy Disk Drives are available for Apple computers, so you will be able to make use of all of the files on http://technicskn7000.com/ by transferring with floppies.

We recommend the following floppy drive which we have tested on Apple Mac:

USB FLOPPY DRIVE – UK

USB FLOPPY DRIVE - USA

or, if you have a PC, you can use the Technics Song Manager Software

or, if you have a PC you can use the KN-SDExplorer software available at http://software.technicskn7000.com

CREATING YOUR KN ORIGINS SD CARD FROM OUR ZIP FILE

Step 1 - Format your SD Card on your keyboard.

You will lose all of the current contents so if you want to revert to them you should backup your SD Card as described above.

Step 2 - Copy the entire contents of the .ZIP file onto your SD Card.

The Card is now prepared for use on KN7000 or KN2600. The contents are described below, including 61 Empty Directories and 38 Directories containing 727 Styles.

EMPTY DIRECTORIES

IMPORTANT - The Card will display 61 EMPTY directories on your keyboard, named 01 to 61. These are placed at the beginning of the list so that they are convenient for your use.

You can rename these directories using the SD Card Management Tools on your keyboard as described on Page 151 of the KN7000 User Manual and Page 144 of the KN2600 User Manual.

STYLE DIRECTORIES

Directories 62 to 99 contain Styles from the KN2600, KN6500, KN5000, KN3000 and KN2000 that are additional Styles, not available on KN7000. There are also an extra 82 World Styles.

You will need to scroll down on your keyboard's display in order to see these directories as they are at the end of the list. You can use the NEXT button to page down through the list of directories, to reach the directories that contain Styles.

USING THE STYLES

The best way to conveniently make use of these Styles is to leave them in these directories and add the Styles that you like to FAVOURITE SONGS on the SD Menu. See Page 150 of the KN7000 User Manual or Page 143 of the KN2600 User Manual for more information about Favourite Songs.

These files were made available Free on the Internet by Technics at http://TechnicsKN7000.com

SD CARD FUNCTIONS

Refer to Page 138 onwards in the KN7000 User Manual or Page 131 onwards in the KN2600 User Manual for more information about using SD Cards in your keyboard.

THE PRIVATE DIRECTORY

DO NOT manually change any files within the PRIVATE directory or you will corrupt your SD Card (see exception below).

The PRIVATE directory files can only be edited by the KN7000 keyboard itself or using a specialist program such as KN-SDExplorer on PC.

There is one exception to this. Within the file structure you will find the CUSTOM directory. You can manually place .CST and .AST files in the CUSTOM directory.

You can read more about Custom files (.CST) and All Custom files (.AST) at http://TechnicsKN7000.com/ and http://KN7000.co.uk/ or in your manual.

THE IMEXPORT DIRECTORY

The IMEXPORT folder is for importing MIDI files (SD-SOUND)

Place the MIDI files in this directory and then import them on your keyboard.

The keyboard imports them and places the imported files in the SD_SOUND directory.

After importing them, you can safely delete the files in the IMEXPORT directory so that it is ready to accept more MIDI files to import.

THE SD_SOUND DIRECTORY

This folder contains MIDI files that have been imported by the keyboard. Do not edit any files within this folder. Do not place any other files within this folder.

THE SD_AUDIO DIRECTORY

This folder contains SD AUDIO files that have been imported using the Panasonic SD Jukebox program.

An empty folder is included for the sake of completeness.

There is no other way to import MP3 or WAV files than using the Panasonic SD Jukebox program on a PC, by means of a compatible SD Card reader.

Do not edit any files within this folder. Do not place any other files within this folder. Files within this folder can not be copied to other SD Cards, they are protected.

THE MANUALS DIRECTORY

This folder contains the PDF manuals for KN7000 and KN2600.

KN2600 owners can also make use of the KN7000 Reference Guide. Most of the information in this guide applies to KN2600.

If you have the KN2600 Reference Guide please consider scanning it for us!
