Re: Installation failed

Hi Bert,

Thank you very much for the feedback! Knowing what errors occur is really important because obviously there's just the Programmer, John and me testing, we're not like a big software house.

I'll be working on updates with the Programmer over the next three to four weeks, correcting any errors that are reported.

Please can you do the following:

1 - Restart your computer, try another installation and let us know what errors you encounter, if any.
2 - Let us know whether you have 32 bit Vista or 64 bit Vista. You should be able to find this out by clicking on My Computer and going to Properties.

Many thanks!
Mike

Re: Installation failed

Dmitriy, thanks for your help but I am afraid that it is not clear for me. I have 2 quaestions:
1.If I right click on the file TECHNICS_KEYBOARDS_ICONS_SETUP_V1 and select 'Run as Administrator' it starts installing. I don't see a folder with setup.exe. Maybe I misunderstand you? How can I get the folder?
2. Shouls I first unzip Run.cmd before adding it to the folder with setup.exe?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Installation failed

Hi NAM and Dmitriy,

I will try to explain further.

Dmitriy is our programmer.

Dmitriy,

Our setup file is renamed - TECHNICS_KEYBOARDS_ICONS_SETUP_V1.exe

NAM,

What Dmitriy woudl like you to do is as follows:

1 - TECHNICS_KEYBOARDS_ICONS_SETUP_V1.exe is saved in a directory (folder) somewhere on your PC.
2 - Right-click on the icon of TECHNICS_KEYBOARDS_ICONS_SETUP_V1.exe and go to the compatibility tab. Tick "Run as Administrator" and press OK. As shown below:

3 - Download the Run.cmd file that I have attached to this post and put it in the same folder as TECHNICS_KEYBOARDS_ICONS_SETUP_V1.exe You might encounter some warning messages when you download. Choose to "Keep" the file if you do. It is clean.
4 - Double-click the Run.cmd file. This will initiate the setup (in Administrator mode because of step 2) and it will try to install whilst creating a file called setup.log You might encounter a warning message from Windows when you do this. If so, press "More Info" and tell Windows to continue.
5 - The setup.log file will contain valuable information to help Dimitriy to debug the program. Please reply to this message and attached the setup.log file. There is a button below when you reply which is called "Choose File" so that you can attach files and I have temporarily allowed .log files to be uploaded.

Thank you very much, we really appreciate you taking the time to help us to debug this.

Besy wishes,
Mike

Re: Installation failed

I got the 2 files both in one folder. I have ticked "'Run as administrator'' in the com[patibility tab. (I noticed that Vista is not mentioned in the compatibility modus (strange?) so I choosed the latest version XP servicepack 2. Then I dubbleclicked the Run file. For a split second I then see a black popup and nothing happens.

Re: Installation failed

Thank you Bert.

You don't need to tick any compatibility mode, only the "Run as Administrator".

Just to double check, did you download my run.cmd (ie not Dimitriys)?

Did it generate a file called setup.log that you can send to us? It should be in the same directory.

Seeing a black box pop up is correct.

Many thanks,
Mike

Re: Installation failed

PS - you might have to right-click on my run.cmd and choose "save as" to save it.

Re: Installation failed

PPS out of interest, Vista is not listed in your compatibility list because you are running Vista. Similarly, I am running Windows 8 so that isn't listed in mine but Vista is. So, leaving it unticked means that you are in Vista mode.

Re: Installation failed

Mike,
I use Dimitriys Run.cmd, not yours because I do not know where to find this.
After unzipping Dimitriys Run.cmd.zip the file is named Run, not Run.cmd. Is this correct?
Installation still fails. After the (very short) black popup there is no setup.log file in the directory.

Re: Installation failed

Hi NAM,

Yes, seeing just the name "Run" is correct.

I've removed the old run.cmd and I've added mine to this post (LINK BELOW), inside a zip file. You will need to unzip it and put it in the directory.

Many thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike,
Now the popup remains and setup log file was created, see attachment.
I hope the failure can be detected.
