Re: Technics SX-U90 organ, service manual

Hi Harmonium,

Unfortunately, I don't have the Service Manual for the U90 (or P90). The Service Manual for the U50 is in the Members Area and there should be quite a lot of commonality. A Member used that manual to help repair a U60 a few years ago.

Re: Which model is this Technic organ?

Hi Both,

It is a Technics G6, which is essentially the same as the EX70 but a different colour (wood and colours instead of greys). Few were made in the wood finish.

A great organ. There might be some very minor differences to EX70.

Best wishes,

[b]Alright Mike.
I'll give it a go this evening. Graphite huh? Same stuff pencils are made with? I saw for a fleeting moment something on YouTube, about that.
But,I'll just swap a bottom out for a top. The section is the second B, in from the last key. …

Re: GA3 Problem

Almost certainly. The rubber pads have two rubber contacts. I believe it is some type of graphite on the end of the two rubber 'prongs'.

One is longer than the other. When you press a key, the long one makes contact with the circuit board, rapidly foll…

You Sir...would be correct smiling
In saying that, turning it OFF..did "fix" the issue. My follow up is this....is this then, still a rubber pad issue you think?

Hi Dennis,

Probably loading a floppy disk is turning your touch sensitivity on, or increasing it, due to the settings on the disk. Just a guess.

[b]Hey Mike-
BRILLIANT suggestion about swapping!! smiling THANK YOU.
I'll have to try the sensitivity setting too. See if it's turned off smiling It's just...odd..it only happens when I place a floppy disc in and load.

This is almost certainly a defective contact. I haven't had any success in cleaning contacts but there are some Youtube videos describing the cleaning of rubber contacts on other keyboards. As I say, it has never worked for me.

You can establish whethe…

GA3 Problem

[b]So, I've had my GA3 for two weeks now. When I got it, I notice the SECOND "B" key from the end, was playing louder than the rest of all the keys, top or bottom.
It was annoying and I read the manual and found how to reset the organ to original setting…

[b]To be honest, I WAS wondering about my GA3. I know this is the model that John Bowdler plays in your next of the woods over there. By the way, I LOVE hearing him play and watching the YouTubes. I guess I was curious about this model. I DO have another …

Re: Top of the line Model

It was the G100C in Europe, built in 1996. Model numbers sometimes varied in different markets. I think the same model was F100 elsewhere, though the F100 possibly had more bass pedals.

EA5 was the next to last model made in 1995. However, the GA3 from…

I was just curios, what was the top of the line model, with the most fully loaded, full features, options and "bells and whistles" for the organs?

Re: GN3

Well, in brief, MidiTzer is the sound of a Wurlitzer in a computer program. You'll appreciate that you can hook up any MIDI organ to a computer and that it can then control 'virtual instruments'. Some of these instruments are quite astonishing in quality.…

No problem. I misread GN3 as GA3.

It might also be worth you looking at a virtual instrument such as Miditzer and hooking that up to an existing organ.

Ahhh ok. Well I know the GNs fairly well. I would say you can get theatrish sounds out of them but they aren't really geared for that. Yes, to playing in the style of a theatre organ, sounds reasonable. No, to having plenty of specific theatre organ sound…

I was wondering, if the SX GN3, had the theatre organ sounds in it? I've looked over both manuals but, the info in somewhat vague. I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this.

For the reference guide, use the GA3 Reference Guide which you will find to have all the info you need. The two organs are extremely similar. Hopefully an F100 owner will eventually share one with us.

Hi Graeme,

My EX35 is tucked away at the moment but I'll take a look in the next few days and get back to you.

I don't think I have the service manual yet. I'll be back in touch soon.

Best wishes,
Mike

Only two buttons of the Voice Setting Computer work. LED 3 does not light and none of the other buttons/combinations will store voices. Does anyone know a fix for this and could you please add a pdf of the service manual to the Manuals List. Thanks.
