I want to run my KN6500 through an external midi sequencer. This means I have to send program changes to tell the keyboard what voices to access for a particular part of the performance. Is there a list of the individual voices and the program number that will access them? I have one for my Roland CM32L sound module and I remember my old KN600 having one. But I can't locate one for the KN6500.

I found the list for General Midi here:http://soundprogramming.net/file-formats/general-midi-instrument-li... and there is a link on the page to GM2. Just thought others might find it useful.

Re: Accessing Voices via Midi

Hi Roger:

Not sure what you mean by the "Reference Guide" - I have the User Manual for my KN6500 and the section on Midi left me little the wiser on how to set it up. However, if the document you have is not the User Manual under a different title, it could well be highly useful. I now have my keyboard working with Breakthru' sequencer on the Atari "STEEM" emulator but there seem to be a number of "issues" that lead me to wonder if I need to make some adjustments on the keyboard.

The instrument list for which I posted the link above has been very helpful addressing one of the issues but there are a number of "detaily" things that tell me I need to talk to somebody who knows how Midi works on the KN600/7000 series.

Anyway, if there's a way I could get a look at your Reference Guide, I'd be grateful.

Cheers,
Mike

This is the reference guide that I've found - see picture attached - there are several pages on the subject of midi connections. If you think they would be helpful I can scan those pages and forward them to you.

Re: Accessing Voices via Midi

I have now been shown the way to access the various voices on my KN6500 via STEEM and the good old sequencer "Breakthru". I made contact with a fellow Breakthru user on the Cakewalk forum and he got me completely sorted out - spending a lot of his time doing so. Thanks, Lee.

I'm more than happy to pass on any useful knowledge to other musicians but I suspect it will be pretty specific to the Breakthru sequencer.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.

Re: Accessing Voices via Midi

Hi Mike

I am using the KN6000 and in the sound explorer you will find all the info about voices in midi.
Using a DAW is the simplest way to send the info to your KN.
If you are looking for voices just look for a brand name en search for .ins
For the KN6000 I introduced them myself one by one because of the differences in voices for GM end level 2.
Hope I can help you.
