I just use 2gb as the test would be wasted. I use one of those little usb dongles that holds microSD cards and I have quite a few on 2gb microSD cards lying about from old phones etc.
Also if it worked once then it should work again unless it's faulty…

I have successfully fitted a Gotek drive to my KN5000 and also to a Yamaha PSR9000. You don't need a 2Gb USB stick, but anything over is wasted, so don't worry. I use a 4Gb on mine and a 32Gb is used on my friend's PSR9000.

The cheap Gotek one like the one you linked to works fine in a KN6000. It seems your only issue was you didn't get the software. Even without the software it will still work fine in the KN but without the software when you put your usb stick …

Big issue is if the OS on the 6500 is gone then there is no way for you to get the floppy to read and upload to the synth. The only way to do it I know of is to change the proms from the main board and to be honest you have to find some of them or someone…

There is a second page when you get to the final 'load' which determines what gets loaded and what doesn't. That is assuming that what you have on the floppy disk is more than just the rhythm.

I just realised that you had said Windows 10 in your first post. 7-ZIP will sort this out for you. Windows 10 does deal with zip files but installing 7-ZIP will make it more straightforward.

Hi Shezza,
KN6000 has bagpipes. Look under Reeds in the Sound Explorer. If the preset doesn't suit you it will be a good starting point for editing.

Load up the APP, type in some of the songs you want in your singalong and it will give you the suggestions. The link to the APP is on the top right of every page, on the main menu.

The User Manual for the hard drive is in the members area (search for sx6 or sx3 I'm not sure which). Both disks are the same, basically only the size differs. I think SX6 is 3.2Gb and yours is 2Gb or so.

Best to take a look at the KN6000 Service Manual because I think that the body is the same as the KN6500. The manual seems to indicate that you need to take the keyboard apart to access the wiring.

I would go from Sibelius to Cubase (MIDI). There, you will find that you have far better control over the expression (dynamic volume adjustments are easier in a DAW).

PS when you are on your LOAD screen (I'm assuming it is very similar to KN7000) notice that it tells you what type of file you have selected. Take a good look around the LOAD screen whilst you are there.

Further to my previous post, I have tried to load the styles Floppy into the HDSX6 fitted in my KN6500. It appears to download and even says that the download was successful , there is nothing there on any of the three partitions. Regards Carper
